Senior Game 7 Preview

Senior Game 7 Preview

With the season now in its latter stages, we take a quick look at the Senior team’s upcoming game at home to the Maidstone Pumas this Sunday 9th July.

The Cheetahs are sitting pretty at 6-0 so far this season. We lead the SFC 2 South for both points scored (257) and points conceded (28). However, with 4 games left to play and the Berkshire Renegades close behind on 5-1, there is still all to play for.

For the opposition, it is a somewhat different tale. Maidstone are at 1-5 for the year, having secured a victory against the winless Hastings Conquerors. Their key aim will be to finish above those same Conquerors… but they will also be looking for revenge for earlier defeats.

The reverse fixture finished 0-54 to the Cheetah Pride, on a sunny day down in Kent. Highlights of that game included a punt return for a TD from TJ Ajayi before the Cheetahs offence had even got on the field, as well as a defensive touchdown from Craig Cudmore who ripped the ball free from a scrum before carrying home.

All told, the Cheetahs will hope to continue their winning streak but are likely to face a Pumas side who are hurting from the previous encounter. It promises to be an interesting game – so head down to St Albans Rugby Club this Sunday for football, burgers, beverages and hopefully some sun on this 4th July weekend!
