It’s a huge matchup this weekend in the SFC 2 South as the #CheetahPride travel to the in-form Portsmouth Dreadnoughts. There is more than revenge for the Cheetahs at stake here, as the winners of this game will have secured the second spot in the division and thus a more favourable play-off matchup.
Both teams currently have 7-2 records. The Cheetahs have scored more and conceded less than the Dreadnoughts so far this season, but the Portsmouth outfit hold the key head-to-head record as it stands and currently sit second, above the third place Cheetahs.
The Black and Yellow were defeated 7-16 in the reverse fixture, a pick-six in Q4 wrapping up a game that looked destined to go right to the wire. With QB1 Jason Scurfield still out injured and a number of holes appearing across the squad, the Cheetahs have had to work extra hard to ensure that they can execute their gameplan on Sunday and come away with the win. We don’t make predictions in these previews, but we are confident that the pride are fired up and ready to end the regular season on a high!
The game is part of a charity day for the Dreadnoughts. You find out more about their story and donate here.
