The Hertfordshire Cheetahs American Football Club and Hertfordshire Tornadoes are delighted to announce that they have merged to offer American Football for all in the county.
The Tornadoes, established in 2011, are one of the UK’s founding women’s American Football teams and have produced many athletes including those who took part in the Great Britain team and won silver medals at the European Championships.
The merge will give the Cheetahs and Tornadoes the opportunity to give girls and women the chance to play American Football from the age of 8 and progress through the Cheetahs Academy system.
Luke Clark, Chairman of the Cheetahs, had this to say:
“We are delighted we and the Tornadoes are forming a long term partnership. This will help both the Cheetahs and Tornadoes in putting Hertfordshire on the map as THE place for American Football in the UK.”
Maria Peeters, Chair of the Tornadoes said:
“This is such an exciting opportunity for both teams. The merge feels like a natural progression for both teams especially as the relationship between the Tornadoes and Cheetahs has gone from strength to strength in recent years. I’m excited to see what the future hold for all teams involved with the Cheetahs programme.”
