After the previous weekend’s victory against Ipswich, the Cheetahs are straight back at it as they travel to London to face the London Blitz B in the SFC 2 Semi Final.
The Blitz, 2nd seed in the South to the Cheetahs 3rd, won the SFC 2 East division with a perfect record. The Cheetahs will be well aware that this will be a significant challenge. Both teams have exciting offences and tough defences so this looks to be one of tightest affairs of the season for the Cheetahs and Blitz.
The Norwich Devils visited the Blitz in the first round of the playoffs and were dispatched 50-0 by the home side. The Cheetahs meanwhile excommunicated the Cardinals by a 44-14 scoreline as both teams head into this game in high spirits with a spot in the southern final up for grabs.
Regular Season Comparison: Blitz – Cheetahs
Wins: 8 – 7
Losses 0 – 1
Points for: 358 – 342
Points against: 44 – 47
OC Will Sparke admitted that “The playoffs are tough and its only going to get tougher. Ipswich were a team who refused to roll over and we relished the challenge! We are very excited about the upcoming semi final this week and look forward to seeing what the blitz can bring to the table. It will be very interesting to see how they handle some of our dangerous playmakers including QB Martin Brown who threw for 75% and 3 TDs vs the Cardinals as well as Adam Adenji who managed an impressive 254 yards and multiple touchdowns on only 23 carries. It’s game time and we will be looking to come back with the win!”
