Two Cheetahs have been rewarded for their Uniball prowess with call-ups for the Football America University All Star Game.
Senior Running Back Matt Lake – representing Chichester University – and Academy Wide Receiver Thaqib Ahmed of Coventry University will be facing off against each other in the South vs North game this Sunday at Harvey Hadden stadium, Nottingham. Matt will be playing for the South, and Thaqib for the North.
Asked how he felt about his selection, Matt was unsurprisingly pleased:
“To be honest if you’d have told me in my first year, as a rookie when I had no experience at all, that i’d get an opportunity to represent my University in this way and I’d have a club to represent at the same time… I’d have probably had a little laugh and told you not a chance. So I’m incredibly proud to have the opportunity to represent. Hopefully I can do the coaches and players that have helped me along the way justice. I hope to showcase my University team and the Hertfordshire Cheetahs, and maybe demonstrate that players that come from Div 2 sides aren’t a joke and shouldn’t be discounted as lesser players!”
The entire Pride wish the best of luck to Matt and Thaqib, though obviously we can’t pick sides!
