Academy player wins “Opportunity for Excellence”

In bright news for grim times, academy player Adam Headley (No.22 in the above photo) has won an “opportunity for excellence” award from his Broxbourne borough council. The award scheme is intended to support athletes in achieving at higher levels of the sport. The award provides a years subscription to the council’s leisure centres, starting once the centres can reopen. The award will also give Adam the opportunity to take part in council led campaigns on increasing participation in sport.

Adam is on the Team GB Development squad as a linebacker, though played as centre in the previous season for the Cheetahs.

His coach Phil MacGovern was unsurprised by the recognition, commenting that “Adam joined the Cheetahs as soon as he was old enough and has been a key contributor since, playing many different positions. He works exceptionally hard and is a great teammate. I am sure this award is one of many to come.”

Congratulations to Adam!
