The Cheetah Hall of Fame
Richard ‘Digger’ Barnes
Former Player, Chairman, Stat-man, Pitch Marker….Digger done it all for the club. Still attending our games today, you’ll recognise him from the quantity of Cheetahs Merchandise he’ll be wearing. Richard Barnes was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2013.
Jamie was a Defensive and Team captain for many years. He was known for his hard hitting style of play from linebacker. Jamie Brown was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2014.
Andy Crowther played many positions for the Cheethas including QB and played for teams including the London Mets and Farnham (PA) Knights. He also filmed most of the games in the 1990s and 2000s and these can be found on his Youtube channel. Andy Crowther was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2016.
Cliff was another Cheetahs player who played wherever he was needed. He played as TE, DE and OL in his tenure at the Cheetahs and now coaches for the Hertfordshire Cheetahs Flag programme. Cliff was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2018.
Darren was, like Jamie Brown, known for his hard hits. Other teams went home knowing they had played the Cheetahs when Darren was on the field. Darren Whybrow was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2014.
Shane epitomised the Cheetahs playing wherever he was needed including the OL and FB. He was voted in as team captain for his final season in the Black and Gold before moving to Dubai, where he won multiple national championships with the Dubai Barracuda. Shane Wilden was voted into the Hall of Fame in 2017.
